Ocean Grove RV Resort
St. Augustine, FL
I left I-95 too soon and wound up driving through downtown St. Augustine but the slow moving, traffic-light regulated traffic afforded me the opportunity to recall memories of my past visit here. For those who are interested in reminiscing with me, go back five years and read about my stay via this LINK.

Over the Bridge of Lions to A1A and Ocean Groves Campground. |
This drawbridge, built in the '20's cost a million dollars, quite a sum at the time. The iconic lions were sculpted by Italian artist Furio Piccirilli who also sculpted the famous lions protecting the New York Public Library, Patience and Fortitude.

Lions were added in 1927 |

A prime location on the east coast of Florida, the walk to the ocean won't be on my agenda. |
|
Located 7 miles south of historic St. Augustine, Ocean Grove RV Resort fills the bill for "resort living." 208 RV sites and 180 park models are dotted throughout the property. |
|
Site D-122 is a level concrete and paver site with picnic table, water, (unusable) sewer and 30-amp service. The top of the sewer connection was 10" above ground level. Physics teaches us "water" does not flow uphill. (Not counting tidal bores or river currents under certain conditions.) |
|
Mondays are designated as landscaping day. The sites are well manicured and well taken care of. |
This is a 360º look at my surroundings. I arrived on a Saturday but by Monday, the number of Class A's and 5th wheels were significantly reduced.
There isn't much to report during this short 3-day stay. My time was mostly devoted to creating my blog and appreciating the Florida weather, which at this time of the year borders on perfect. People watching is always fun. Older full-timers predominate with their huge Class A's. A few sites have young children running around and probably home-schooled, a growing phenomenon. Check out what's involved with "road schooling" with THIS LINK. I'm noticing wives driving rigs, setting up and even flushing the tanks upon leaving. I'm familiar with only one Super RVer, our own Roberta, who tackles ALL those RV chores (including repairs). I took a walk toward the western edge of the campground and would like to share the beautiful views of Florida.

On the way, a view for my RV friends for future trips. Long drive-thrus for their large Class A's and 5th wheels. |
|
50 and 30-amp service, water and sewer with concrete aprons and picnic table. |
|
At the end of the road, the open expanse of marshes and waterways took up the entire landscape. |
A 360º at the Resort edge.
We absolutely loved St Augustine. As always, enjoyed your blog. Stay well, stay safe and I am sure well-fed. Get some stone crab claws if you can find them.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Will do although crab claws (or anybody else's) are not my go-to menu item.
DeleteYes, St. Augustine is one of the greats. Could almost make me move to Florida. But, then again, I hate Florida. Makes my blood pressure go up. Give me the north with its winter wonderlands and all. The RV park, however, does look exceptional and Winnie looks so proud with her awning already displayed ad positioned over the provided picnic table. I bet great meals shall soon make the scene. Enjoy as always but know we miss ya up here! hugs, sjg
ReplyDeleteAlas, the great meals are of my own making. These days, it's all about the beauty of the ocean, shoreline and warmth of the sun. Total relaxation (as if I needed it).
